Welcome to LOOΠΔ!

Hey, everyone, thanks for stumbling upon this blog that I created. This was originally for an activity for a school subject but I decided to keep doing this in the long run.

I’m not going to update this regularly but if I find something that I like to post or write about then I would.

Without further ado, welcome to LOOΠΔ!

Loona (Hangul이달의 소녀), stylized as LOOΠΔ, is a South Korean girl group formed by BlockBerry Creative. The group is composed of twelve members: ViVi, Yves, JinSoul, HaSeul, Kim Lip, Chuu, HeeJin, HyunJin, Go Won, Choerry, Olivia Hye and YeoJin.

The group started its pre-debut project in October 2016 by revealing new members periodically and subsequently forming sub-units. In the following 18 months, the members were introduced through the release of individual solo tracks, single albums and extended plays. Individual promotional activities were held for each member and sub-unit. On August 7, 2018, the lead single “Favorite” was released, showing off all twelve members for the first time. The group officially debuted on August 19, 2018, and released their debut album ++ on August 20, 2018.

BlockBerry Creative is the company responsible for making LOONA into a reality. Jaden Jeong, LOONA’s creative director, always wanted to make a group with spectacular music content, one who has its own brand and doesn’t follow any trends and instead create their own. The plan started way back in 2014, and through various sponsors from USA and Japan–two of the most leading music industry in the world–he was able to make his plan come into fruition.

I’ve never really liked Korean Pop Culture nor do I associate with them for the past years. I’ve liked a few songs here and there but it was always a passing interest. I’ve liked Jpop or Vocaloid Music for as long as I can remember and especially western music. I’ve also rarely expressed any interest towards most Filipino songs either. Preferring to listen to old songs, or old bands.

But Loona has this charm or pull that really hits me when I first listened to them. They may not be the best dancer nor the best singer (Kim Jiwoo would beg otherwise), but their different genres, concept, attitude, and the glowing personality of each member managed to attract my interest.

Of course, not everyone shares the same sentiment and I understand. I won’t force my interest to other people but I hope in the future, more and more people would give them a chance like I did.
